Introduction

In moments of pain and uncertainty, we often seek healing that transcends the capabilities of medicine alone. Prayer for healing is an expression of trust in God’s ability to mend the brokenness in our bodies and hearts.

A Short Prayer for Healing

Heavenly Father, touch me with Your healing hands and restore my body and spirit. May Your comforting presence surround me in my time of need. Amen.

A Longer Prayer for Healing

O Lord, my Healer, I come before You in my frailty, seeking the healing only You can provide. “He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed” (1 Peter 2:24). I claim the profound truth of this scripture, believing in the healing that comes from Your sacrifice.

“Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up” (James 5:14-15). In faith, I ask for Your healing touch upon my life. Whether it be through the hands of doctors or a miracle from Your throne, let my body and soul be a testament to Your living power.

Comfort me in my discomfort, and guide me through this valley to the mountaintop of wellness. I trust in Your timing and Your perfect will, knowing that You work all things for good.

Devotional – Bringing our Heart to God

“Prayer is the link that connects us with God.” – A.B. Simpson. This connection is especially vital when seeking healing, as it anchors us to the source of life and restoration. We know that God can and does heal. But we also know that being connected with God is the ultimate gift that he gives.

When we pray for healing, we engage in an act of surrender to God’s will, trusting in His sovereignty and compassionate care. It’s an acknowledgment that while we may not understand our trials, we know the One who holds our days in His hands.

God may choose to heal us now or that healing may be delayed until we are finally resurrected and glorified.

Revelation 21:3–5

Then I heard a loud voice from the throne: Look, God’s dwelling is with humanity, and he will live with them. They will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them and will be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away. Then the one seated on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new.” He also said, “Write, because these words are faithful and true.”

This is the healing that one day awaits all those that trust in him. We can ask God’s power to break in now as a gift to us in our pain and sickness. But we also confidently trust that one day all things will be made new.

Reflection Questions:

  • How does trusting that God will make all things new in the future shape your circumstances now?
  • What could connecting with God in prayer look like for you more regularly?

A Children’s Prayer for Healing

God, please heal my scrapes and aches,
Make me strong, for Your name’s sake.
Hold me close and let me feel,
Your love so real that can truly heal.

When I’m feeling sick or small,
I know God hears my every call.
With a prayer, I reach to Thee,
For I know He’s healing me.

Conclusion

Prayer for healing is a powerful act of faith, inviting God’s intervention and comfort into our lives. It’s a testament to our belief in His goodness and His desire to restore us. As we lift our voices in prayer, we are reminded that healing comes in many forms, all within the grasp of God’s loving hands. This is a great resources to build your faith in God’s healing power.
